The best farm in Australia for goats is actually an old one.
Alstede Farms is based in Albury and has been operating in Altona since 1878.
It’s not just for goats, its a great place for sheep and sheepdogs too.
“It’s got a really good range of goats,” Mr Vella said.
Mr Vella also has a herd of cattle and says they have been excellent since he has started.
“We’ve had a lot of success with the calves.
They’re just fantastic,” he said.
The farm has about 400 goats.
But for Mr Velle the goats are the main attraction.
“They’re very, very affectionate animals and I’ve never had a problem with them in the last four or five years,” he explained.
“I have no problem with my goats.”
He is keen to keep the goats on his farm, even if they don’t like people.
“You can’t have a goat or a sheepdog on the property,” he laughed.
“If they’re not comfortable, we just don’t have that option.”
