Panthers QB Cam Cam Newton was in full-throttle mode on Thursday night, and it was a reminder of how close the Panthers were to winning a Super Bowl.
When asked about the Carolina Panthers, Newton told reporters at the team’s hotel in Nashville that they’re the best team, and he couldn’t help but praise his former team.
“The Panthers are the best NFL team in history,” Newton said.
“They’ve been through a lot together, and they have a great coach in Sean McDermott.
I love that team.
They’re the team that I was drafted by, and now I’m here.
They have a bunch of young guys, and the veterans are getting a lot of respect.
It’s a good group of guys, a great group of young players, and I think we’re going to be very good in this league.
For me, it’s really about the veterans, and their toughness and their character.
I think that’s what we’re looking for.
Injuries are a huge thing with us.
But I think they’ve got some guys that are playing at a really high level right now, and that’s something that I think will be really good for us going forward.”
With the Panthers playing better, the defense is starting to gel and the offense is scoring more points.
With a strong defense, Newton said he can trust his offensive line.
He added, “I think that we’re playing at an unbelievable level right off the bat.
I’ve got guys that can play on both sides of the ball.”
The Panthers lost quarterback Cam Newton to a torn ACL on Thursday, ending his 2017 season.
Panthers head coach Ron Rivera says it will be a long road for Cam Newton, who was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft.
We can’t wait to get back to work with Cam, our head coach said.
Cam Newton has a lot to be proud of, but his success will take a long time to be measured.
The Panthers went 2-8 in Newton’s first three seasons in Tennessee.
