The Farm Sink Kitchen has been running for the past year at the former The Croft and The Prawns Farm on the edge of Liverpool, Liverpool city centre, and is run by Maddy O’Connor, who has been a farmer since she was five years old.
She is a self-taught baker and a regular on the farm since she joined up a year ago.
The farm has been an inspiration to many people, and Maddie has been sharing her recipes with the public since 2014.
“It’s amazing how many people love my crockpot recipe,” she told me over email.
A few of the recipes she shares on the Farm Sinks Kitchen website are very simple, but others are quite complex and require some skill and trial and error.
MADDIE’S NEW RECIPE Maddies crock pot recipe: Make a crock with 3 cups milk, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp salt.
Add the flour and whisk to combine.
Pour in the milk, sugar and salt.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes, or until the milk starts to thicken.
Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes, then remove from the rack and let cool.
The rest is just the basic ingredients.
You can find more recipes on The Croft & Prawn Farm website and the Farm Sinking Kitchen Facebook page.
As for the crock itself, Maddies crocks can be made on the hob or on a regular stick, and she tells me it’s a great dish to make with just the basics: “You can add a lot of spices to the recipe and have the flavours really come through.”
There’s no need to be too fancy, either.
I was pleasantly surprised by the mild, but delicious flavour that Maddies recipe received from MADIE, so I can see why it resonates with people.
It’s simple, easy to make, and really a great recipe to share with friends and family.
And if you’re looking to share the dish with your friends, it may not be the recipe for you.
Here are some more simple crockpots to try out, from the crocks of Maddies husband and daughter: The Croft &Prawn Farm Crockpot with White Sugar and Salt (Crockpot Maggie) Cooks 20 minutes Ingredients: 3 cups milk , 1 cup white, 1 tbsp vanilla , salt, and water (Optional: 1 tsp ground cinnamon) Directions: Mix all ingredients in a crocker and set aside.
